Acute Communicable Disease Control
Liver and Hepatitis
Hepatitis, damage or inflammation of the liver, has many causes, including chemical
or toxicologic agents and viral infections. In the United States the most common types
of viral hepatitis are hepatitis A ("infectious"), hepatitis B ("serum"), and hepatitis C.
While symptoms are similar for all viral hepatitis infections, transmission, testing,
treatment and prevention differ.
