The Center for Health Equity (CHE) is a division
within the Executive Office of the County of Los Angeles
Department of Public Health (Public Health).
CHE believes in policies and practices that foster
healthy communities for all. Toward that end, CHE seeks to
build the collective ability of the Public Health workforce
and community to achieve health and racial equity.
Key efforts include:
- Enhance the Public Health Workforce's ability to
effectively apply an equity lens in program planning and
implementation.
- Promote and support efforts to ensure language
justice. Language Justice focuses on ensuring all
individuals can communicate and get information in the
language with which they are most comfortable.
- Identify and promote policies and practices, in
collaboration with internal and external partners, to
ensure fair and just opportunities and resources for all
communities.
- Create and support multi-disciplinary teams to
develop best practices to achieve health equity.
- Initiate and sustain collaborative partnerships with
community and other County agencies to advance all of
the above.
