Vaccination Information

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health provides free flu vaccine to the public. To find a clinic near you check our flu site again upon flu season. In addition, retail clinics will offer the flu shot for a small fee. To find these clinics, visit www.flushotla.com.

Information to Providers Regarding Influenza Vaccine for 2010-2011 Season (New 6-14-10)

Who Should Get Vaccinated
- ALL PERSONS, including school aged children, who want to reduce risk of becoming ill or transmitting influenza to others should be vaccinated
  - Children aged 6 months to 8 years should receive 2 doses if not previously vaccinated
  - If children aged 6 months to 8 years received only one dose in their first year of vaccination, they should receive 2 doses the following year
- People at high risk for complications from the flu, including:
  - Children aged 6 months until their 5th birthday,
  - Pregnant women,
  - People 50 years of age and older, and
  - People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions;
  - People who live in nursing homes and other long term care facilities.
- People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including:
  - Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu (see above)
  - Household contacts and out of home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age (these children are too young to be vaccinated)
  - Healthcare workers.
